New premium seating space at MB Stadium Atlanta Image: MB Stadium & TVS

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia (US) has added on-field terraces for the National Football League (NFL) team Atlanta Falcons and the Major League Soccer (MLS) team Atlanta United FC. The terraces became available to fans on August 27th for the Atlanta Falcons pre-season game.

‘Mercedes-Benz Stadium’ stated that located just behind the sidelines in the exterior corners of the onfield club patios – four on each side of the field – they each feature lounge seating for small groups and can be sold for various sports, concerts and other stadium events.

‘THE-NEWS-PAGE’ stated that the spaces are being marketed by the stadium as “the place to entertain and be seen” and a “VIP experience”.

The 71,000-capacity Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a multipurpose stadium located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Opened in August 2017 as a replacement for the Georgia Dome, it serves as the home stadium of the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League and the Atlanta United FC of Major League Soccer.

The Atlanta Falcons are a professional American football team based in Atlanta (US). The Falcons compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference South division.

The Atlanta United FC, commonly known as Atlanta United, is an American professional soccer club based in Atlanta that competes in Major League Soccer as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference. Founded in 2014, Atlanta United began play as an MLS expansion team in 2017, as the 22nd team in the league.

The appeal may be found more in the on-field atmosphere, energy and exclusivity than in what figures to be an obstructed view of, say, Falcons games from the terraces.

Acknowledged Don Rovak, Vice-President of Sales and Service, AMB Sports and Entertainment, “It’s going to be interesting what the actual view is once you put a bunch of football players in front of them.”

But he expects “a feeling of prestige, of something really truly unique”.

Don Rovak serves as the Vice-President of Sales and Service for AMB Sports and Entertainment where he oversees and leads the Sales, Ticket Member Services and Operation teams for the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United. In addition, Rovak oversees the private events and tour business for the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Its part of an emerging trend in recent NFL stadiums of placing premium seating options ever closer to the action.

The 70,000-capacity SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California (US), the two-year-old home of the NFL teams Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, offers field cabanas so close to the action that “you could very well have a defensive lineman land in your beer”.

And the 65,000-capacity Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, the two-year-old home of the NFL team Las Vegas Raiders, offers the Wynn Field Club in one end zone, described as “a full-fledged nightclub at the field level”.

Since the Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s opening in 2017, premium ticket holders in the first 35 rows have been able to step onto the field from private clubs and stand on the turf behind the sidelines during events. Those available areas have been reduced by about 10 yards on each end to install the terrace seating.

Added Rovak, “We feel this will add to the atmosphere (in the stadium). It’ll be a part of the show, no different than the National Basketball Association (NBA) floor seats.”

The spaces have been designed by TVS Design, architecture, interior design and planning firm that previously worked on the stadium’s premium clubs.

Maybach and Delta Sky360° On-Field Terraces

The ‘Mercedes-Benz Stadium’ further stated that located in the closest proximity to the field, these new premium spaces are the place to entertain and be seen on Atlanta Falcons and College Football gamedays, Atlanta United matchdays and concerts. These terraces are located directly on the field/floor, and are equipped with lounge seating, an inclusive upscale menu, customizable alcohol options, and a personal attendant. Treat yourself and those important to you to this VIP Experience.

Features:

  • Private reserved lounge seating on field/floor;
  • Accommodates 6-14 guests;
  • Included upscale menu;
  • Starter beverage program with customizable beverages;
  • Personal attendant; and
  • VIP parking options.

‘THE-NEWS-PAGE’ further stated that Rovak said some – not all – of the terraces have been sold for some Falcons, Atlanta United and college football games. He thinks one potential market will be found in Atlanta startup companies that don’t want a typical suite but seek “something more unique than a ticket to a game”.
