Paris Saint-Germain-RC Lens face-off in Stade Bollaert-Delelis

For the first time since 2023 the Trophée des Champions will be held in France pitting the Ligue 1 team Paris Saint-Germain, the newly crowned French champions, against their peer team – the RC Lens – winners of the Coupe de France.

‘yahoo!sports’ stated that a clash between the top two sides from the last Ligue 1 season, which will take place at the Sang et Or’s (RC Lens) home ground, the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens, France, chosen by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) to host the event by a coin toss following a failure in negotiations between the two clubs to reach an agreement on the venue of the match.

The Trophée des Champions is a French association football trophy contested in an annual match between the champions of Ligue 1 and the winners of the Coupe de France. It is equivalent to the Super Cups played in many other countries.

The Paris Saint-Germain or PSG is a French professional football club based in Paris (France). The club was founded in 1970 by the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain and competes in Ligue 1, the top tier of French football.

The 38,223-seat Stade Bollaert-Delelis is the main football stadium in Lens, France, that was built in 1933. It is the home of RC Lens.

The Coupe de France, also known in English as the French Cup, is the premier knockout Cup competition in French football.

The Ligue de Football Professionnel, commonly known as the LFP, is a French league that runs the major professional football divisions in France and Monaco.

‘yahoo!sports’ further stated that the four-time defending champions and winners of 12 of the last 13 editions, Luis Enrique’s (Head Coach of Paris Saint-Germain) men will be looking to add another trophy to their collection having played the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Super Cup against the Premier League team Aston Villa F.C. (UK) recently.

For RC Lens, this match will be an opportunity to get their season off to a strong start but also to take some – belated – revenge on Paris Saint-Germain who denied them the trophy in 1998 (1-0 defeat).
