The Ligue 1 team Paris Saint-Germain Football Club (PSG) (France) recently announced at the Web Summit Qatar that the club is taking a bold step into the future of sports innovation with the launch of PSG Labs, a pioneering global initiative designed to accelerate cutting-edge technology in sports, fan experience and performance.

‘Qatar Tribune’ stated that as part of its commitment to driving innovation the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) also announced that the club is expanding its global footprint with the launch of its first international PSG Lab in Doha (Qatar) reinforcing its role as a leader in sports technology and fostering new collaborations in one of the world’s fastest-growing tech ecosystems and a strategic gateway to cutting-edge research and technology in the Middle East as well as explore new advancements in sports technology.

The PSG Labs will serve as the club’s dedicated innovation engine identifying and supporting high-potential startups, entrepreneurs and tech partners to create transformative solutions that will redefine the industry.

The Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, commonly referred to as Paris Saint-Germain or simply PSG, is a professional football club based in Paris, France. They compete in the Ligue 1, the top division of French football.

The Parc des Princes is an all-seater football stadium in Paris, France. The stadium, with a seating capacity of 48,229 spectators, has been the home of the football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) since 1974.

The Web Summit Qatar 2025, held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) from February 23rd-26th, is a tech conference connecting the global tech world with thousands of international entrepreneurs, investors and leaders aiming to transform Doha (capital of Qatar) into a global tech hub.

‘Qatar Tribune’ further stated that the launch of the PSG Labs in Doha marks the first step in the club’s international innovation expansion.
 
The regional lab will serve as a gateway to emerging technology in the Middle East allowing the PSG to:

  • Partner with the top local and international startups;
  • Explore new advancements in sports tech and digital engagement; and
  • Develop solutions that can be scaled globally.

A New Model for Sports Innovation

The PSG Labs will work closely with the selected partners in leading technology ecosystems to accelerate the development of disruptive innovations in the following areas:

  • Sports Performance and Health – Leveraging advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and medical technologies to optimize athlete performance and well-being;
  • Fan Engagement – Redefining how the fans connect with the club through Web3 (a vision for a decentralized Internet where the users have more control over their data and digital identities, immersive experiences and personalized digital interactions);
  • Smart Stadium and Infrastructure – Enhancing the top-flight’s stadium and training facilities with cutting-edge technologies for an optimized match experience and operational management;
  • AI – Stimulate all the ways the club can engage in model development, large language model (LLM), multimodal technologies, automation, Web3-AI intersections, enterprise applications, as well as ethical and governance AI;
  • Web3 and Blockchain – Helping the club modernize its blockchain, tokenization and digital asset management capabilities. Tokenization, decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), non-fungible token (NFT), AI-Blockchain intersections, enterprise applications, stablecoins, wallets, and blockchain gaming;
  • Audiovisual and Media – Innovating in content creation, live broadcasts and next-generation storytelling to bring the PSG closer to its global audience;
  • Cybersecurity and Technology Infrastructure – Ensuring the highest level of digital security and operational efficiency for the club’s ecosystem; and
  • Sustainability and social impact – Developing responsible and high-impact initiatives in line with PSG’s commitment to environmental and social progress.
