FIFA announces new fan festival in Qatar Image: FIFA

Due to the compact nature of this tournament, the FIFA Fan Festival during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ will take place for the first time at a single venue – in the heart of Qatar, in the center of Doha – at the Al Bidda Park.

‘FIFA’ stated that the venue, which will have a capacity of 40,000 simultaneous visitors, will be located between the West Bay area and the Souq Waqif marketplace. It will be accessible via the Metro stations Corniche, Al Bidda and The White Palace, and by foot along the Corniche.

The FIFA Fan Fests are public viewing events organized by FIFA and the Host Cities during FIFA World Cup™. FIFA Fan Fests followed the success of public viewing at the 2002 FIFA World Cup™ in South Korea and became an essential part of the tournament since the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ in Germany.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup™ is scheduled to be the 22nd running of the FIFA World Cup™ competition, the quadrennial international men’s football championship contested by the senior national teams of the member- associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar from November 20th to December 18th, 2022.

The Al Bidda Park, formerly known as the Al Rumaila Park, is a park in Doha, Qatar, next to the 490-seat Qatar National Theater. It is near the Doha Bay, overlooks the Doha Corniche and is one of the oldest and most popular parks in Doha. It is one of the areas used for birdwatching.

The Doha Corniche is a waterfront promenade extending for seven kilometers along the Doha Bay in the capital City of Qatar, Doha. Annual celebrations of national holidays such as the Qatar National Day and the National Sports Day are centered on the Doha Corniche. It is a popular tourist and leisure attraction within Qatar.

‘FIFA’ further stated that with almost all stadiums within a short distance around the FIFA Fan Festival and easily accessible with the help of good public transport links, this will be the place in Doha where all international and local fans, as well as the media, will come together to celebrate the FIFA World Cup™.

Dedicated transport will be provided to and from the stadiums to the FIFA Fan Festival. Visitors with match tickets will not have to miss any of the action as they will be able to travel swiftly and efficiently between both the locations.

The Doha skyline will provide a stunning backdrop, offering incredible photography and filming opportunities for visitors.

The Al Bidda Park is located at the historical heart of Doha, with the site first documented as long ago as 1681. It was previously known as the Al Rumailah Park and is one of the oldest and most popular destinations in the country.

  • Date – November 21st-December 18th, 2022
  • Location: Doha, Qatar
  • Venue: Al Bidda Park
