Westfalen Arena Dortmund under new leadership Image: Rainer Schüler

Rainer Schüler has taken over the role of the new Division Manager of the Westfalenhallen in Dortmund, Germany, since January 1st, 2025.

‘WESTFALENHALLEN UNTERNEHMENSGRUPPE’ stated that the event and venue management ace will be a part of the strategic decision-making team and will look into the operations of the conference venue.

The 15,380-capacity Westfalenhallen is a conference venue and exhibition center with an indoor arena (Westfalenhalle) in Dortmund, Germany.

Schüler boasts vast experience of working in the event industry. His earlier stint includes working as the Senior Venue Manager at EURO 2024 GmbH where he was responsible for the operational planning and implementation of the soccer show.

The EURO 2024 was the 17th Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) European Championship, the quadrennial international football championship organized by the UEFA for the European men’s national teams of their member associations. Germany hosted the tournament which took place from June 14th-July 14th, 2024.

Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is one of six continental bodies of governance in association football. It governs football, futsal and beach football in Europe and the transcontinental countries of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan as well as the West Asian countries of Cyprus, Armenia and Israel. The UEFA consists of 55 national association members. Since 2022, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIFA and UEFA suspended all Russian national teams and clubs from any FIFA and UEFA competitions.

‘WESTFALENHALLEN UNTERNEHMENSGRUPPE’ further stated that earlier as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Venue Planner he developed innovative software solutions for event planning.

Schüler also served as the General Manager (GM) of the 6,000-capacity Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi. He enjoys a wealth of experience in event management, stadium planning and security management.

Stated Sabine Loos, Managing Director of the Westfalenhallen Group, “Rainer Schüler is a person with a broad vision and has an innovative bent of mind and will be best able to understand the tradition and history of the Westfalenhalle.”

This is the Golden Jubilee year of the Westfalenhalle which opened its doors in the year 1925 and can today pack in circa 16,000 spectators.
