It’s official! As of September 1st, 2025 the Sportpaleis in Antwerp (Belgium) will have a new name. The concert hall where so much music history has been written will be known as the AFAS Dome.

‘Sportpaleis Antwerpen’ stated that the above announcement was made recently in a presser held at the Sportpaleis.

The 23,001-capacity Antwerps Sportpaleis, also called the Sportpaleis Antwerpen, Sportpaleis Merksem or simply the Sportpaleis, is an arena in Antwerp, Belgium. It is a multipurpose hall used for organizing concerts, sporting events, festivals, and fairs.

‘Sportpaleis Antwerpen’ further stated that the unique atmosphere, the goosebump moments, singing together, jumping and partying everything remains the same. Only the total in-venue experience will be more exalted.

Remarked Jan Van Esbroeck, CEO of be•at (entertainment provider), “This is a watershed moment for our venue. We are taking this iconic venue to the next level keeping its rich history intact with an eye on the future.”

For the AFAS Software this collaboration is more than just a name on the façade.

Machiel den Dekker, head honcho of AFAS Software Belgium, puts it this way, “With the AFAS Dome we want to contribute to a future in which technology and entertainment go hand in hand so that the visitors have an unforgettable experience every time they visit the venue.”

Leusden (Netherlands)-based the AFAS Software is a Dutch family-owned company that develops software products for businesses. With their application they strive to reduce administrative work as much as possible or make it a little less boring where they can.

What does the name change mean in concrete terms? Well, the AFAS Dome will be more than just a new name. The venue will undergo renovation works in the coming months making it more futuristic, improved facilities and even a brand new VIP area.

With the support of the AFAS and the passion of the visitors the Sportpaleis is setting the course for the future.
