During a public meeting organized on February 2nd, the Mayor of Saint-Ouen (France), Karim Bouamrane, the President of the Realites Group (real estate developer in Saint-Herblain, France), Yoann Choin-Joubert and the President of Red Star FC, Patrice Haddad, presented to local residents the Stade Bauer renovation project endorsed by all those involved in the project.

The occasion also called for celebrations as the Stade Bauer – which was at one point of time all about to get torn down – got back its pride of place recently and would serve as the training site for all football matches of Paris 2024.

The Red Star Football Club, also known simply as Red Star, is a French association football club founded in Paris in 1897, and is the third oldest French football club, after Le Havre AC and Girondins de Bordeaux.

The Stade Bauer is a 10,000-capacity football stadium in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine in the Northern suburbs of Paris (France). The stadium is mainly used by Red Star F.C. who currently plays in Championnat National (third division of the French football league system) but has tasted success in the Coupe de France, winning it on five occasions.

The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad and also known as Paris 2024, is an upcoming international multisport event scheduled to take place from July 26th to August 11th, 2024 in Paris, France.

Plans for reshaping the iconic Bauer Stadium (France) – home of the French association football club Red Star F.C. since the year 1909 – have been unveiled recently. The spruce-up work is scheduled to be completed by the year 2025.

Unanimous approval

The ‘Red Star FC’ stated that the stadium renovation will prove to be a feather to the hat of not only the club but also for the City of Paris as well as the district.

A year after consulting with citizens and continuous interaction among the Town Hall of Saint-Ouen, Realites, Red Star F.C., and the Red Star Bauer Collective, some changes have been made to the project since the presentation made on July 7th, 2021. All the stakeholders have given unanimous approval for refurbishing the stadium.

The ‘Red Star FC’ further stated that the pristine sheen of the structure will not be tampered with. The stadium will be built on the lines of an English stadium model with rebuilt features like stands close to the pitch and will retain the Red Star flavor. The stadium will be housed amidst a verdant space. A 500m2 of green space will be created and will complement the 1,500 m² of green roofs as well as the 450 m² of terrace gardens.

A future Bauer Box will be set up boasting offices and collaborative workspaces, shops and health centers. The new stadium will open up to the neighborhood and everybody will be able to bask in the Bauer glory.

The renovation works will include commissioning of the South Stand at the foot of Planète Z from next season. This particular stand will be equipped with special effects acoustics. The East Grandstand will be next in line, to be delivered in August 2023, when work on the West Grandstand will begin, which is scheduled to be completed by January 2025. The Bauer Box and the North Grandstand will be delivered in August 2025.

Back with a bang

After 100 years, after having hosted the matches of the football tournament of the 1924 Paris Olympic Games, the Stade Bauer has again been made a training site for the football fixtures of Paris 2024.

A stadium which almost faced demolition threat in the year 2016 has today again regained its pride of place with the above development and has given much reason for the club as well as the City to rejoice.

‘Bauer Corner’

A project called ‘Bauer Corner’ was unfolded in the above meeting. It houses the model of the Stade Bauer renovation project as well as the club’s new official store. Open to everyone from Monday to Friday, this new space aims to give a knowhow to the local residents about the stadium renovation project.

Pride of place

Said Karim Bouamrane, Mayor of Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, Vice-President of the Department, “The Stade Bauer remodeling project has finally taken shape. We have got upgraded from a stadium which was all about to be torn down in the year 2016 to a stadium that will be a training site for the Paris 2024 football matchups. This has been made possible due to perfect cohesion among the stakeholders as well as the community on which the stadium will sit. We conducted an opinion poll of the neighborhood in November 2020 and worked on their suggestions. Today, the stadium is again a part of the Olympic heritage.”

Exulted Yoann Choin-Joubert, Founding CEO of Realites Group, “I am delighted to present a revised project. Discussions between the City of Sain-Ouen, Red Star F.C., the Red Star Bauer Collective, and Realites Group have been fruitful and I am very proud of the same. I am very happy for the ‘The Audonians’ that their home ground has been selected as one of the training sites for the Paris 2024 Games. It is a nod to the hard work of the stakeholders involved in the stadium reconfiguration project. The renovated Stade Bauer will be a symbol of sustainability and will be bustling with activities the whole year through. The City of Saint-Ouen will also radiate in the stadium glory.”

Stated Patrice Haddad, President, Red Star F.C., “The stadium getting its Olympic pride of place back is due to the toil put in by the stakeholders over the last 10 years which started reaping rewards recently – the main actors being the Realites Group, the Town Hall of Saint-Ouen and the Collective Red Star Bauer. Everybody has agreed on a unanimous note to start the facility revamp work. The Paris 2024 training site news comes as a reason to rejoice for the Red Star F.C. and its fans.”
