The top-flight club’s redecorated home arena nub is sustainability.

A ‘LinkedIn Post By Cruzados/Universidad Católica’ stated, “Cruzados and the partners of the Claro Arena’s latest offering: The Dream Pitch! One can watch the sight-to-behold pitch on EmolTV (television platform of a media company in Chile).”

The Club Deportivo Universidad Católica, known as the Universidad Católica, is a professional football club based in Santiago, Chile. Founded in 1937 they play in the Primera División, the top flight of Chilean football. The team has played its home games at the Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo (now Claro Arena) since 1988.

The Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo, also referred to as the Claro Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium in Las Condes in the Metropolitan region of Santiago (Chile). The stadium was built in 1988 and currently holds 20,000 spectators. It serves as the home of the Universidad Católica.

The totally transformed Claro Arena will be one of the most futuristic and sustainable arenas in South America and will host an array of sporting events as well as cultural and entertainment shows. It will also boast a wide range of hospitality offerings.

The ‘LinkedIn Post By Cruzados/Universidad Católica’ further stated, “Promoting sustainability as one of its main pillars the new stadium of Universidad Católica, together with the companies associated with the project, has developed a Dream Pitch. It will be a hi-tech pitch high on the sustainability quotient.”

The fans will be able to savor the top-flight’s soccer moves on this ‘Dream Pitch’ once the Claro Arena comes on stream.

The Claro Arena will be totally cutting-edge and a ‘Green stadium’ with sustainability factors woven into the warp and woof of the facility.

The stadium will boast full 5G connectivity and will offer a sustainable experience for the entire community. It will be the most state-of-the-art venue in South America and a multipurpose space designed to bring people together and promote social development and will also bring about a 360 degree change in the sports, culture and entertainment landscape of Chile.

The Claro Arena will come armed with a photovoltaic (PV) plant which will generate the energy which the venue will require in its day-to-day operations while the surplus energy needs on days when major events are held in the stadium will be met by a certified energy supply of 100 percent renewable origin.

The other elements to keep the sustainability quotient high – a grey water treatment plant, trees will skirt the arena and ‘Green Steel’ and wood are being used in the façades and the roof structures.

Once operational, the multipurpose venue will be the perfect spot to host major acts and it will also help to keep the coffers brimming.
