The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) recently announced its long-awaited return to India with the WWE Superstar Spectacle to be held at the G.M.C. Balayogi Indoor Stadium (Gachibowli Indoor Stadium), Hyderabad, India, on September 8th, 2023. This will mark the first live event to take place in India since 2017 and the first-ever WWE live event to be held in Hyderabad, Telengana.

Stamford (US)-based the World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. d/b/a WWE is an American professional wrestling promotion. A global integrated media and entertainment company, the WWE has also branched out into other fields, including film, American football and various other business ventures.

The 2021 Superstar Spectacle was the inaugural Superstar Spectacle professional wrestling television special and livestreaming event produced by the American company WWE. It featured wrestlers from the promotion’s Raw, the American professional wrestling television programs produced by WWE – SmackDown and the NXT brand divisions. The event was taped on January 22nd, 2021, and aired on January 26th for India’s Republic Day. The event was specially produced for WWE’s Indian market as a part of their five-year deal with the Sony Pictures Networks India. The event also incorporated elements of traditional and contemporary Indian culture and emanated from the WWE ThunderDome, hosted at the 42,735-capacity Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida (US).

The WWE ThunderDome was a bio-secure bubble created by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE, in partnership with the full-service fan experience company, The Famous Group. It was launched in August 2020 as a way for professional wrestling fans to attend WWE events virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The WWE Raw is the Monday night professional wrestling television program for the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and is the primary broadcast of the RAW brand. WWE Raw is generally seen as WWE’s flagship program over its sister programs, SmackDown! and the Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), due to its longer history and the way it is promoted.

The G. M. C. Balayogi Indoor Stadium is an indoor arena located in Hyderabad, India. It holds 5,000 people. It is located in the Gachibowli suburb. The stadium was built in 2002 under the N. Chandrababu Naidu Government to host the 2003 Afro-Asian Games.

‘WWE’ further stated that the WWE fans in attendance can look forward to seeing their favorite WWE Superstars in action including: The World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins (American professional wrestler), the Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley (Australian professional wrestler), the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens (Canadian professional wrestling tag team), the Intercontinental Champion ‘The Ring General’ Gunther (Austrian professional wrestler), Jinder Mahal (Canadian professional wrestler), the Indian professional wrestlers Veer and Sanga, Drew McIntyre (Scottish professional wrestler), Becky Lynch (Irish professional wrestler), Natalya (Canadian professional wrestler), Matt Riddle (American professional wrestler), Ludwig Kaiser (German professional wrestler), and many more*.

The Sony Sports Network is the home of WWE in India including WWE’s flagship programing Raw, SmackDown, NXT and WWE’s Premium Live Events including WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Royal Rumble (professional wrestling pay-per-view and livestreaming event produced by WWE), and more.

The WrestleMania is a professional wrestling pay-per-view and livestreaming event held annually between mid-March and mid-April by the American company WWE, the world’s largest professional wrestling promotion.

The SummerSlam is a professional wrestling pay-per-view and livestreaming event, produced annually since 1988 by the world’s largest professional wrestling promotion, WWE. Dubbed ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer’, it is considered WWE’s second biggest event of the year behind their flagship event, WrestleMania.
