The eight American professional football minor league XFL teams now know where they will play in 2023.

‘Bleacher Report’ stated that the league will have teams in Las Vegas, Orlando, Florida, San Antonio, Arlington, Texas, Houston, St. Louis, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. The first three are new Cities in the United States that were not used in the previous iteration of the league and replace New York, Los Angeles and Tampa Bay.

The XFL is an American professional football minor league consisting of eight teams divided equally between divisions. Seasons run from February to April, with each team playing a 10-game regular season, and four progressing to the playoffs to crown a season champion. It is headquartered in Arlington, Texas, US.

‘Bleacher Report’ further stated that the league assigned home stadiums for every team except the one in Las Vegas, which may eventually play in the 65,000-capacity Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, US.

The coaches were also assigned to teams with the American football coach Bob Stoops taking over the Arlington one and the American football wide receiver Hines Ward taking over the San Antonio one:

  • Arlington, Texas: The 48,114-capacity Choctaw Stadium, coach Bob Stoops;
  • Houston, Texas: The 40,000-capacity TDECU Stadium, coach Wade Phillips;
  • Orlando, Florida: The 65,000-capacity Camping World Stadium, coach Terrell Buckley;
  • Las Vegas: TBA Stadium, coach Rod Woodson;
  • San Antonio, Texas: The 72,000-capacity Alamodome, coach Hines Ward;
  • Seattle, Washington: The 72,000-capacity Lumen Field, coach Jim Haslett;
  • St. Louis, Missouri: The 66,965-capacity The Dome at America’s Center, coach Anthony Becht; and
  • Washington, D.C.: The 20,000-capacity Audi Field, coach Reggie Barlow.

While the teams are still missing nicknames, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who is the league’s owner, said, “We have been working on cool, new logos and innovative uniforms that match the dynamic and innovative vision of our league.”

In April, the XFL announced it partnered with the National Football League (NFL) Alumni Academy to provide training programs for players who may play in the league.

This comeback is happening after the XFL suspended operations and eventually canceled the season in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also filed for bankruptcy in April of that year.

The first game for the new iteration is scheduled for February 18th.

The NFL Alumni Association is the oldest and most recognizable national organization of retired former athletes. The NFL Alumni Association serves former National Football League (NFL) players, coaches and other employees whose ‘Caring for our Own’ mission is to serve, assist and inform former players and their families.
