The delegates who attended the Coliseum Summit US – held at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles on September 28th-29th, 2022 – have handed down a unanimous verdict – “Fantastic summit with plenty of very valuable information to sink in.”

In fact, the delegates were totally swept off their feet with the conference content, the conference format, the short case studies with to-the-point ‘takeaways’, and the networking opportunities in between, in the evening and during the venue tours.

With the conference venue a packed house, for the first time the Coliseum Summit US was a complete sellout – 204 participants in total.

A glance at the venue and event situation in Los Angeles:

  • 18,000,000 (SoCal – Southern California);
  • 409 (Venues – Los Angeles alone);
  • 20,750 (Annual events);
  • 1,487 (Events in next 30 days);
  • 12 (Professional sports teams); and
  • 9 (Major universities).

The pre-conference tour of the 70,000-capacity SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, started on September 27th, 2022, and the early birds were able to soak in the spectacular view of the venue which is truly a vision.

The SoFi Stadium is the newest sports facility of Los Angeles and opened in September 2020. The in-mint-condition expansive facility stands like a jewel on the crown of LA and is one of the hottest properties in the world today.

The area of SoFi Stadium is bristling with construction activities to create a sporting destination which will come armed with retail space, hotel, training facility, etc. The National Basketball Association (NBA) team Los Angeles Clippers new arena, the under-construction 18,000-capacity Intuit Dome, sits a stone’s throw away.

Mark A. Williams, Global Director of Venues, HKS, US, Lance Evans, Venues Design Director, HKS, US, Michelle Stevenson, Principal, HKS, US, and Skarphedinn Hedinsson, CTO, Los Angeles Rams, US, conducted the venue tour.

HKS is a celebrated American international architecture firm.

The conference which started on September 28th was a star speakers’-studded affair with all 44 venue virtuosos keeping the delegates tied to their seats on both the conference days (September 28th and 29th) sharing the most valuable information pertaining to the sports venue sector.

Be it Jeff Berding, Co-CEO, FC Cincinnati, US, Lee Zeidman, President, Crypto.com Arena, US, Stephen Collins, President, Global Venue Development, Oak View Group, US, or the rest of the best-in-class speakers – each and every speaker was able to hold the delegates’ total attention with their pearls of wisdom.

One of the participants summarized the conclave perfectly – “I sincerely leave with a box full of ideas and some good new connections. Your events are so very credible with great guests.”

This bears testimony to the fact that Coliseum summits are indeed a rich repository of information.

Three different venue tours were conducted during the recently concluded Coliseum US Summit. Katie Pandolfo, General Manager, Dignity Health Sports Park, US, conducted the closing venue tour of the conference venue – the 27,000-capacity Dignity Health Sports Park, on Day One of the meet. Delegates took a dekko of the tennis complex and the Velodrome. The sweeping views of the arena were a breathtaking moment for all.

The closing venue tour on September 29th was of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum – the best view one can get in Los Angeles! It is one of the oldest venues in Los Angeles and the 78,467-capacity venue is known as the ‘Greatest Stadium in the World’ and is a kind of treasure trove for the Angelenos. It is a spacious and extensive facility and offers a panoramic view. The venue tour was conducted by Joe Furin, General Manager, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, US.

The venue tours in the summit stood in total contrast – the opening tour was of the recently opened SoFi Stadium – the newest edition to the venue landscape of Los Angeles – and the closing tour was of one of the oldest venues of LA! – the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum – which has hosted two Olympic Games in 1932 and 1984 and will soon be part of LA28 – the 2028 Summer Olympics to be held in Los Angeles.

All three stadia definitely do not cease to amaze.

Coliseum Summit will be back in the United States in September 2023. The location will be announced soon.

The next Coliseum Summit will be the MENA edition to be held on Feb 15th, 2023, at the 18,000-capacity Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

To surmise, the Coliseum Summit US indeed proved to be very valuable for the attendees and scripted success. The conference was a perfect cocktail of amazing venues and brilliant speakers.
