Most of the biggest games in world cricket are coming to Birmingham (UK) in 2022 with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announcing recently seven Major Match days for Edgbaston Stadium next summer.

The ‘Warwickshire County Cricket Club’ stated that Edgbaston will host Joe Root’s (current captain of England in Test cricket) England men side for an LV= Insurance Test Match against South Africa from August 25th to August 29th and a mouth-watering Royal London International (ODI) versus India on July 9th.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the governing body of cricket in England and Wales. It was formed on January 1st, 1997 as a single governing body to combine the roles formerly fulfilled by the Test and County Cricket Board, the National Cricket Association and the Cricket Council. In April 1998 the Women’s Cricket Association was integrated into the organization. The ECB’s head offices are at Lord’s Cricket Ground in North-West London.

The 25,000-capacity Edgbaston Cricket Ground, also known as the County Ground or Edgbaston Stadium, is a cricket ground in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham, England (UK). It is home to the Warwickshire County Cricket Club and its T20 team Birmingham Bears.

The Warwickshire County Cricket Club is one among 18 first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Warwickshire. Its 50 overs team is called the Warwickshire Bears and its T20 team the Birmingham Bears.

The ‘Warwickshire County Cricket Club’ further stated that the venue will also host the biggest day in the county cricket calendar, with the Vitality Blast Finals Day (a professional Twenty20 cricket league being played in England and Wales) returning to Edgbaston for the 14th time on July 16th.

The Ballot is now open for all Major Match days at edgbaston.com and is once again the best chance to get tickets for the biggest games at Edgbaston in 2022, or one can guarantee one’s seat with Membership with the Priority Club only £25.

Said the Warwickshire County Cricket Club Chief Executive, Stuart Cain, “Edgbaston and Birmingham are right at the heart of the global sporting calendar next summer. Our schedule of Major Match cricket in 2022 is amongst the best that we have ever hosted, with a men’s Test match, Finals Day and an ODI that sees the top two teams in the world rankings do battle and will attract a huge global TV audience. We’re also proud to play our part in hosting the inaugural women’s T20 tournament in Birmingham 2022, which will be a fantastic opportunity to build on this year’s success of The Hundred, which has transformed women’s cricket and attracted record crowds at Edgbaston for our Birmingham Phoenix games.”
