‘Death Star’ to go full house for SummerSlam

WWE® (NYSE: WWE) announced on June 5^th that SummerSlam will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (US) on August 21^st at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT, marking the first time the annual event has been held at an NFL stadium.

A news release sent out by Allegiant Stadium stated that SummerSlam will be one of the first sporting events held at full capacity at Allegiant Stadium with tickets to go on sale on June 18^th. SummerSlam is a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced annually in August by professional wrestling promotion WWE. Dubbed as ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer,’ it is one of the original ‘Big Four’ pay-per-view events of WWE and is considered the WWE’s second biggest event of the year behind WrestleMania.

Located adjacent to the world-famous Las Vegas Strip at Nevada in United States, Allegiant Stadium is a state-of-the-art global events destination and is ideally located for both visitors and locals. The technologically advanced stadium is fully enclosed and climate-controlled with a capacity of up to 65,000. It is home to the National Football League’s Las Vegas Raiders and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) college football team.

Stated Nick Khan, WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer and Las Vegas native, “Coming out of the pandemic, it was important to us to have a big event like SummerSlam in Las Vegas. The release quoted Steve Hill, President and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, as stating, “We couldn’t be more excited to host SummerSlam for the very first time and welcome WWE, its Superstars and the WWE Universe to Las Vegas this August. Live entertainment and sporting events are returning to the destination in a big way, and SummerSlam is the perfect addition to the Las Vegas summer calendar.”

The release concluded by stating that SummerSlam will stream live exclusively on Peacock in the United States and on WWE Network everywhere else.
