The Spanish soccer team Real Madrid CF (Spain) has entered the metaverse to offer a series of benefits to its users, including virtual visits to its home pitch – the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

The ‘geekmetaverse.com’ stated that the name of this ambitious project is Real Madrid Virtual World and it will allow fans from all over the world to interact with activities and elements of the club through the metaverse.

Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, commonly referred to as Real Madrid or simply Real, is a Spanish professional football club based in Madrid, Spain. Founded on March 6th, 1902 as Madrid Football Club, the club has traditionally worn a white home kit since inception.

The Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is a football stadium in Madrid, Spain. With a current seating capacity of 81,044, it has been the home stadium of Real Madrid since its completion in 1947. It is the second-largest stadium in Spain and third-largest home to a top-flight European club after the 99,354-capacity Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain, and the 81,365-capacity Westfalenstadion in Dortmund, Germany.

In futurism and science fiction, the metaverse is a hypothetical iteration of the Internet as a single, universal and immersive virtual world that is facilitated by the use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) headsets. In colloquial use, a metaverse is a network of 3D virtual worlds focused on social connection.

The new Real Madrid metaverse

The ‘geekmetaverse.com’ further stated that in the Real Madrid Virtual World each user has the opportunity to create their avatar and interact with the Real Madrid community.

In addition to the visit to the field and dressing rooms, Real Madrid offers a tour of the club’s history, through the white museum, with some multimedia enhancements where one can learn details of each moment.

As an additional element, this metaverse will have mini-games, in which fans will be able to compete against each other and win weekly prizes.

It is foreseen that within this digital universe of ‘The Meringues’ club, there will be live chat rooms, where fans can write and interact with each other.

The development of Real Madrid’s virtual world is based on technology offered by the Spanish company Astosch Technology, also working hand in hand with the technological giant Microsoft.

The application is already available for Android and iOS (iPhone operating system). However, the launch for virtual reality devices is still awaited.
