Leading independent technology company PMY Group (PMY) has signed industry leader Mika Sulin to its team as Global Strategic Adviser, a role focused on enhancing the company’s global venue technology offering.

PMY Group provides technology solutions to venues, infrastructure and major events.

Last Year, PMY acquired Spindlewood, a prominent temporary overlay technology solutions company based in the United Kingdom (UK) in a bid to support its expansion throughout Europe.

Founded in Melbourne, Australia, in 2009 with a simple vision to provide major venues, events and sporting organizations with independent advice to support their technology needs, PMY Group has assisted more than 500 venues and major events across 10 countries. It has offices located in Australia, USA, UK, Europe, and Asia.

PMY said that new team member Sulin has had a celebrated career across the global sport, entertainment and venue industry and will bring industry leading networks, experience and expertise to the group.

Bridging his career as a professional hockey player with Finnish teams such as HPK and Helsingin Jokerit, to a leader in sports and venue development, Sulin’s career has included many influential roles and significant contributions.

He was instrumental in the growth of brands like Salomon and Nike in the Nordics and Central & Eastern Europe and in developing over 12 major arenas and stadiums, including the Hartwall Arena and O2 Prague, with a combined value of over €3.2 billion.

His leadership has extended to roles including his term as Secretary General of the Finnish Olympic Committee and Acting Secretary General of the Ice Hockey World Championships in 2012. Most recently, Sulin has served as President of the Finnish Ice Hockey Hall of Fame.

He has been involved with the development of Nokia Arena since the beginning of the project in 2007, further showcasing his commitment and expertise in sports and venue development.

Paul Yeomans, PMY’s Group, Chief Executive, said, “Mika’s extensive experience and innovative approach in the arena and stadium sector, coupled with his passion for sports and technology, make him a unique asset to PMY as we expand our global footprint. We are proud to have Mika on board to help grow our global strategic initiatives and expand our business in Europe.

Sulin added, “I am very pleased to join the talented team at PMY, a company that aligns perfectly with my vision to bring greater innovation and sustainability to venue development. This role presents an exciting opportunity to leverage my experience in sports and venue development to drive leading edge advancements for PMY and our clients across Northern Europe.”

PMY, which is renowned for its innovative approach in providing technology and management solutions for venues worldwide, said it welcomed the addition of Sulin as a great strategic fit and continues its investments into relevant local markets throughout Europe.

PMY Group’s current and recent clients include World Athletics, FIFA, UEFA, the local organizing committees for the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) world championships, Tennis Australia, All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, The Open Championship, and the 50,000-capacity Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong.
