PMY acquires Spindlewood Image: PMY Group

On June 14th, the PMY Group (PMY), one of the world’s leading independent technology companies, announced its exciting acquisition of Spindlewood, a prominent temporary overlay technology solutions company based in the United Kingdom (UK).

The ‘PMY.Group’ stated that the acquisition supports PMY’s expansion throughout Europe, further strengthens its client base, expertise in the region, and places PMY in a strong position to become a global leader in temporary overlay technology solutions.

The PMY Group provides technology solutions to venues, infrastructure and major events. Founded in Melbourne, Australia, in 2009 with a simple vision to provide major venues, events and sporting organizations with independent advice to support their technology needs, the PMY Group has assisted more than 500 venues and major events across 10 countries. It has offices located in Australia, USA, UK, Europe, and Asia.

The PMY Group’s current and recent clients include the World Athletics, FIFA, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the local organizing committees for the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) world championships, Tennis Australia, All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, The Open Championship, the 50,000-capacity Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong, the National Basketball Association (NBA) team Houston Rockets, the Major League Baseball (MLB) team New York Mets, the Major League Soccer (MLS) team New York City FC, the English professional association football club Fulham F.C., the Scottish Football Association, the 74,500-capacity Principality Stadium, the England and Wales Cricket Board, and more.

Spindlewood was founded in 2002 in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset (UK) to provide digital surveillance solutions for retail, industrial and the corporate and event industries. In 2005, the business relocated to Yorkshire and in 2010 expanded to Central England with the opening of an office in Staffordshire. Later expansions extended its service coverage into Central London.

The ‘PMY.Group’ further stated that led by Managing Director Charlie Brownridge and Operations Director Peter Carver, Spindlewood provides CCTV, telecoms, Internet connectivity, and Wi-Fi solution services for major organizations and events. Most notably, Spindlewood has successfully provided end-to-end technology services for the Glastonbury Music Festival in Somerset, England, for more than a decade. Spindlewood will continue to serve its clients and many others, driving innovation through new-found access to additional subject matter experts and deployment teams.

The PMY’s vision is to bring events, public infrastructure and major venue assets to life by using technology in a commercially and operationally sustainable manner. PMY is proud to have already achieved this with more than 500 major clients across the globe and know the merger with Spindlewood will significantly further this vision.

Commented Charlie Brownridge, Spindlewood’s Managing Director, “For 20 years Spindlewood has been a UK market leader in the delivery of innovative technical services to the events industry. We are delighted and very excited about joining the PMY Group of companies and look forward to developing and growing our expertise together.”

Commented Chris Green, PMY Group’s UK General Manager, “The requirements for event technology continue to evolve at pace and bringing Spindlewood into the PMY Group will provide great benefits to the existing and future customers across all of the PMY Group of companies.”

Spindlewood will add to PMY’s significant growth story over the past two years, witnessing the integration of numerous companies including the UK-based Etherlive, C3i Group and Sports Data Services, along with the US-based WJHW into its global business.
