Following nod given to £110m funding by the Swansea Council Cabinet, Buckingham Group Contracting can now begin work on shops, flats and a 3,500-seat arena at Swansea in UK.

The first phase redecoration work of the city center at Oystermouth Road will start soon, as per council officials.

The council will borrow £79 m to deliver Phase One while the Welsh and UK Governments have pledged to contribute around £23 m to Phase One, via the city deal for the region. For 36 flats, just under £5 m will be borne by housing association Pobl Group.

Under a pre-construction services deal, Buckingham was appointed as the principal contractor in the beginning of the year itself.

Added attractions like retail and dining space, a coastal park, digital plaza, landmark pedestrian bridge, car parking will come up apart from the digital indoor arena as part of the £500 m Swansea central scheme.

A multi-level car park, bridge and hotel will come up as part of Phase One.

The new bridge crossing Oystermouth Road will connect the site to another block containing flats and commercial area.
