The National Football League (NFL) team Tennessee Titans will soon have a brand new stadium. The team’s final calculation was approved on April 26^th in a 26-12 vote by the Nashville City Council.

‘sportskeeda’ stated that the Titans’ new home arena will be built on what is now the parking lot adjacent to the Titans’ present home ground – the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. The vote also means the City can begin constructing the facility on the East Bank of downtown Nashville.

The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team based in Nashville, Tennessee (US). The Titans compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference South division, and play their home games at the Nissan Stadium.

The 69,143-capacity Nissan Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. Owned by the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, it is primarily used for football and is the home field of the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL).

The Titans are planning a new, domed stadium to be built next to where the existing stadium stands today.

‘sportskeeda’ further stated that according to reports, the cost of the Titans’ new stadium is estimated at a whopping $2.1 billion. Interestingly, this deal will include the highest public subsidy of any stadium in the history of United States, at a cost of $1.26 billion to the taxpayers.

The stadium will also allow Tennessee the opportunity to potentially host events like the Super Bowl (the annual final playoff game of the National Football League to determine the league champion), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) College Football National Championship Game, the Final Four (the final round of both the men’s and women’s NCAA Division I basketball tournaments, which are single-elimination tournaments to determine the US national champion), the Southeastern (SEC) Championships (the annual American football game that has determined the Southeastern Conference’s season champion since 1992), and other events.

The College Football Playoff National Championship is a post-season college football bowl game, used to determine a national champion of the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), which began play in the 2014 college football season.

The Titans are one of the few NFL teams to have never won a Super Bowl. They played in the big game once, back in 2000. However, they lost 23-16 to their peer team St. Louis Rams.

However, a new stadium could serve as a boost for the team to end their drought.

Timespan

Following the vote by the Nashville City Council, construction for the new Tennessee Titans stadium could begin right away. However, reports suggest that the team’s new arena should be completed before the 2026 NFL season begins.

PSLs’ Fate

A personal seat license (PSL) grants the license of ownership to a seat to purchase season tickets every season for the life of the stadium or the expiration of the license agreement.

However, Titans fans that have purchased PSLs at the Nissan Stadium will not be able to transfer their new seats to the new stadium.
