Lyon’s event hall to be named LDLC Arena

As part of the development project for the future arena within OL Vallée, the OL Groupe and the LDLC Group have struck an agreement on the naming of the future OL Groupe event hall in Décines (France).

The ‘Olympique Lyonnais’ stated that the same will be effective from the start of construction (scheduled for the beginning of calendar year 2022) and for a period of eight years from the commissioning of the multifunctional performance hall – LDLC Arena.

Olympique Lyonnais, commonly referred to as simply Lyon or OL, is a French professional football club based in Lyon in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. It plays in France’s highest football division, Ligue 1. The club was established in 1950.

OL Vallée is a massive project of the Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais the design of which was conceived when the Groupama Stadium (France) opened in 2016. Spread over a 50 ha site, it is all set to become a sports center of excellence and is scheduled to go on stream in 2024. The new complex will be attached to the Groupama Stadium in Décines which is the residence of Lyon.

Parc Olympique Lyonnais, known for sponsorship reasons as Groupama Stadium, and in some competitions as Grand Stade de Lyon or Stade des Lumières, is a 59,186-seat stadium in Décines-Charpieu, in the Lyon Metropolis of France and is the residence of Olympique Lyonnais.

The sports center will set technological and environmental benchmark in Europe and will be the largest event arena in France outside of Paris. The LDLC Arena is expected to host between 100 and 120 events per year.

A commercial agreement was also entered into on October 15^th, 2021 with Live Nation, the world leader in entertainment, which will pave way for major concerts to be held in the plush arena.

Euroleague basketball matches, seminars and trade fairs, sporting events (especially e-sport) will be held in the spiffy structure and will allow for varied activities to be held.

The above partnership is a cherry on the cake of the existing strong ties between the LDLC Group and Olympique Lyonnais.

In June 2019, OL Groupe acquired minority stakes in LDLC ASVEL and LDLC ASVEL Féminin and in January 2020, the LDLC Group and OL Groupe also joined forces in the field of e-sport by bringing their two teams together to create the Team LDLC OL.

The LDLC Group’s expertise in terms of use and new technologies, combined with that of Olympique Lyonnais in the world of sport and entertainment, will enable the LDLC Arena to stand out throughout Europe.

The LDLC Arena will be able to accommodate between 12,000 and 16,000 people.
