The Major Events International (MEI) is hosting its fifth edition of their Hosts & Federations Summit, supporting International Sports Federations, Host Cities and Expert Suppliers. The Summit returns to a physical event in Lausanne, Switzerland, from June 7th to June 9th, 2022, designed for delegates to engage with their target communities, focusing on targeted connectivity and where possible there will be pre-planned one-to-one meetings, with MEI support to ensure maximum value.

The ‘Major Events International’ stated that the Summit will give delegates the freedom to:

  • Join as a delegate to network, share knowledge and insights with their peers over the course of three days;
  • Hear International Federations and Host Cities needs for future sporting events;
  • Take advantage of increasing your market profile by taking part in sector-led workshops or central presentations; and
  • Request additional bespoke support to have dedicated pre-event preparation and meeting arrangements.

London (UK)-based the Major Events International (MEI) specializes in helping sports rights holders, Host Cities, Government agencies, and suppliers succeed in the opportunities arising from bidding for, and hosting, major sporting events. It provides a single point of contact for support helping rights holders to mitigate risk, minimize cost and increase revenues and fan engagement delivered via proactive key account management and, where necessary, consultancy.

Having identified a huge gap in the market in the late 2000s for a single point of contact model for event organizers and experienced, trusted event suppliers, MEI was formed to provide that interface service. With experience from every Summer Olympic Games since Athens 2004 through to Rio 2016 and relationships with future Games in Paris 2024, the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022, multiple Commonwealth Games, and single sport World Cups, MEI is the only consultancy operating exclusively in major events planning, delivery and legacy.

MEI is a strategic media partner of Coliseum – Global Sports Venue Alliance.

Rewind 2021

Commented Oliver Dowden, Secretary of State, Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), UK, “I’m really grateful today for MEI bringing everyone together to help us find ways through this turbulent time.”

Remarked Jon Dutton, CEO, Rugby League World Cup 2021, “I really enjoy coming along to the Major EVENTS Summit every year. I think that it is just a really great opportunity to engage with potential commercial partners, and is a good opportunity for us to learn from other major global events.”

Noted Nick Prichard, Global Alliances – Cirque du Soleil, “You never know what you will see, what you will hear, what little snippets or throwaway line that someone will say and you’ll think, there is an idea. You’ll write that down and six months later it will turn into something.”

Observed Ian Reid, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022, “It is a fabulous opportunity for us as we can use this platform to let international and local businesses know what we are trying to achieve from the games.”

Stated Steve Gruning, VP Global Sales & Marketing – SOS Global, “It’s something we find a lot of value in. It’s a fantastic opportunity to have the decision makers in one room and frankly shortens the sales cycle. It is invaluable.”

Said Nicola Esson, Marketing Manager, Duralock Performance Fencing, “Fantastic introductions resulting in contract wins.”
