The Texas Rangers will have a new home in Arlington by 2020 and what more? The HKS-designed new stadium, named Globe Life Field, will have a state-of-the-art climate-controlling and a massive retractable roof that would open and close depending on the weather.

Earlier last year, SunTrust Bank closed a $600 million in financing for the team’s share of construction costs for the 1.7 million-square-feet new stadium, which is a public-private partnership with the City of Arlington.

The $ 1.1-billion baseball park broke ground in September 2017 and is now under construction. The 41,000-seater Globe Life Field is poised to join the Texas Live! Entertainment district as a new destination for entertainment tours.

The highlight of the stadium will be its climate-controlling infrastructure, designed by HKS after taking into consideration of the hot weather in the state. At the centre of the climate-controlling feature is the massive weather sensitive retractable roof.

The venue design aims to improve the comfort of watching games, with wider seats and varied front-row seating design. Two concourse rings allow for easy circulation.
