Sports architecture practice KSS recently confirmed that it is working with Southampton FC on a wide range of upgrades at St. Mary’s Stadium, including a new pitch-side lounge, improved catering facilities and the refurbishment of the home team changing room, according to media reports.

The new 40-person lounge will be named the 1885 after the year the Club was founded. It will be amongst the top hospitality offers in the stadium and will feature full height glazing offering great views of the pitch and seating bowl, and incorporate historic memorabilia and artefacts into a high quality contemporary interior.

“We are very excited to see how this new lounge offer is received, we think it will be very popular for both match days and conferences,” KSS Director Andy Simons said. “If 1885 is as successful as we anticipate, then this could be the start of a whole new range of hospitality offers at the club.”

Meanwhile, Anthony Cole-Johnson, Sales Director at Southampton FC, said: “The new lounge [1885] sets a fresh benchmark for our hospitality proposition here at Southampton Football Club for both match days and as importantly non match days.

KSS have been truly supportive in delivering on our stated ambitions in a tight time line. Coupled with the wider masterplan development across the stadium, KSS have become a trusted partner of Southampton Football Club.”

The lounge is expected to be completed ahead of the 2019/20 Premier League season.
